What actually happens when you paste a TikTok link

TikTok does not hand out a simple file URL. The page you copied is a shell that fetches the video through an internal API, and that API changes shape every few months — which is why single-purpose TikTok downloaders break so regularly. The engine here reads the current API response, finds the media entries in it, and picks the highest bitrate on offer. When TikTok changes something, the failure is a clear message rather than a silently corrupt file.

Quality, and why TikToks look softer than you expect
